About: The Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (BETC) is where biotechnology professionals gain a competitive edge. Our innovative partnership between academia and industry creates customized workforce development solutions for forward-thinking biotechnology companies across the region and around the world. Whether you’re an employee expanding your skillset or a manager developing your team, the BETC has what you need. The first of its kind in New England, the 10,000-square-foot facility is where theory is put into practice and hands-on training fosters real growth. Some of the world’s foremost biotechnology and biopharmaceutical firms—those that recognize the unique value of a highly trained technical staff—have benefited from our programs.

The BETC’s training programs are designed to be efficient, intensive, and immediately beneficial to individuals and companies alike. With an extensive list of individual enrollment training opportunities from upstream, downstream, quality by design, biomanufacturing for the non-specialist, microbial fermentation, and more, there is something for everyone in the industry.

The BETC team also tailors and delivers customized trainings for leading companies in the industry. We work with companies to develop customized programs that fit the unique needs of their workforce. The facility can accommodate up to 20 participants per course, ensuring an in-depth and collaborative learning experience. Workshops are flexible and scheduled to make the most of your valuable time.

Life-sciences companies have been an integral part of the BETC from the start. Industry experts influenced the design of the center’s space and the choice of bench-to-pilot-scale equipment, and they work with WPI faculty to deliver innovative professional development opportunities. The ongoing involvement of our biotechnology partners is how the BETC continues to meet the real-world needs of the industry. The BETC looks forward to furthering its relationships across the industry in the future, for the benefit of biotechnology professionals everywhere.
